Theophilus Perry had, at times, atrocious handwriting, and there were occasional parts of his letters that I could never transcribe. I did call in reinforcements, though. My mom is a retired pharmacist and had much practice in deciphering the sometimes puzzling handwriting of physicians. Calvin B. Horton--25th Texas Calvary--3rd. Texas Lancers Co. I)to his family back in Texas. He tells her about some of his march from Shreveport,La. to Arkansa Post. But unlike you I have never been able to edit them because of his handwritting. He talks a lot about their lack of winter clothing and trys to help her run the family farm.
